I have to say Tiffany and Andrew got married on one of the hottest, most humid days of the year. A stark contrast to the wonderful weather we had for their Buffalo Trace engagement session. But despite the weather the day was so great!
We met up with the girls, and eventually the guys, at the Westport Road Baptist Church. This is the church where Tiffany and Andrew met and where their friends and family attend services. Tiffany and her girls were in a large room, getting ready. All of her bridesmaids helped Tiffany into her dress. She had a reveal with her mom that was so sweet and then her grandma came in to see her as well.
We then took the girls out into the lobby for photos because, did I mention? It was hot outside haha. But the light in the church was perfect and we were able to do all of the portraits inside in the air conditioning. Once we were finished with the girls, we hid them away and headed off to find the guys. They were all ready to go except for some last-minute steaming of ties. After we did a handful of portraits of them, it was ceremony time.
Andrew’s dad and a pastor friend from California performed the ceremony. It was so sweet and personal. Andrew’s mom even played the piano and two bridesmaids sang and a groomsman played the guitar. It was a ceremony about them and also about their families and friends all becoming one.
When we finished family photos, we headed off to St. James Court for bridal party portraits. Again, it was hot. We moved as quickly as we could to get everyone back on the bus. But even in our hustle we were able to get some gorgeous photos. We learned that Tiffany and Andrew had written their own vows and forgot to read them during the ceremony (they did read generic vows). So, we asked them if they wanted to read them to each other in the spot where Andrew proposed. This moment was one of my favorite of the whole wedding season. It was so sweet to see them have this private moment to really take in what the other had written. They cried and smiled, showing their genuine feelings.
We all headed over to the giant Van Gogh room at Mellwood Arts Center, after photos. They had such a fun reception. And at the end of it they gathered their family and friends for a long sparkler exit. And we even grabbed a few more portraits of them under the string lights outside before we headed out for the night.
Thanks, Tiffany and Andrew for letting us be a part of your special day!
