We had such a great day with Rachel and Ricky. And we knew from how they were at their engagement session that we would have a wonderful time with them.
We first met up with the girls at the new Aloft Hotel in Downtown Louisville. They were all so chill, just hanging out. Hair and makeup was finishing up so Jessica and I got some photos of the details and the girls as they all hung out. Rachel got all of the girls robes, even her young nieces, so we got a photo of all of them before the got into their dresses. Rachel’s stepmom got her into her dress then it was show time! We did a short and sweet reveal with her bridesmaids. Then we headed off to the brand new Omni Hotel to see the guys. They were all about ready, so we took a few photos of them hanging out and one of them all taking a shot together that turned out great. The suite at the Omni is perfect for a large group of guys or girls.
Rachel and Ricky’s ceremony was full of smiles and tears from them and many of their family and friends. When the ceremony was finished, we took some family photos. Then we took Rachel and Ricky out front for a handful of photos before we headed off to the Ice House.
There were some sweet details at Rachel and Ricky’s wedding that were dedicated to Rachel’s late mother, who passed away when she was a little girl. Her mom had loved watermelon, so as part of the appetizers, they had pieces of watermelon sitting out for everyone. And there were photos of her mom there too. But one of the most heartfelt surprises of the night was later on when Ricky gave Rachel a paper lantern that they wrote a message to her mom on then lit the bottom and (tried to) sent it off the roof. It was a truly loving moment between them and their family.
Rachel’s best friend, maid-of-honor, Sadie, gave a tearful speech. Rachel’s dad gave his own speech that had everyone in tears, as well. And Ricky’s brother’s speech forced Ricky to keep his eyes on the table so he wouldn’t cry in front of everyone. You could really see the love in their families.
Rachel and Ricky hired a band, friends from Nashville, to play at the reception. And soon after the open dancing started, they pulled Ricky onto the stage. Then Rachel came out from behind with a guitar case, holding a brand new guitar for Ricky. He quickly thanked and hugged Rachel then got right into tuning the guitar and stayed on the stage to play us three songs! It was so fun!!! And he played country music, my favorite. I was so happy.
We had so much fun with Rachel and Ricky! Thank you so much, Rachel and Ricky for letting us be a part of your day!
