Kirby and Brian had another one of those fun, relaxed weddings that we loved this year. Which was especially important considering it was one of the most hot and humid days of the whole summer. But none of that phased them because they were just so excited to be getting married.
Kirby and her bridesmaids and bridesman got ready in one of the rooms on the second floor of the historic home of Gardencourt. We took a few shots of details then Kirby was ready to get dressed. There were lots of giggles and smiles as the girls helped her into her dress. When she was ready, we went downstairs to get some photos of Brian and the guys getting ready. They had an atrium that was all-glass to use to get ready, however, as beautiful as it was it was not efficient and the room was pretty stifling, but they made it through.
Just as we were about to do the “first look” it began to rain, so we had to rethink our plan and found a perfect spot inside a vestibule with lots of natural light. They were both so excited to see each other when they turned around. Brian had tears and Kirby was all smiles.
We were able to get majority of the photos done before the ceremony started, which gave all of us ample time to cool down and refresh beforehand. Jessica and I snapped photos of the sweet details in the reception rooms. They had put out photos of themselves at the ages that corresponded with the table numbers. And they had framed photos of themselves and family members on the mantels. The historic home was decorative enough in itself that it didn’t need much.
The ceremony at Caldwell Chapel was so personal and sweet. There were lots of happy tears, even from the photographers trying to hide on the sidelines ;) After the family photos in the chapel, we took a few more with the bridal party. Then we walked back to Gardencourt with Kirby and Brian for a handful of sunset photos before they went into the reception.
Kirby’s dad died when she was young, but she is close with her step-dad. He walked her down the aisle and danced with her. They even planned a big surprise for everyone and broke out into a choreographed dance! He also gave a hilarious speech with a friend giving sound effects!! Kirby and Brian have a great family and group of friends. Brian’s sister came out during the reception dressed in a T-Rex costume and danced to the Jurassic Park theme with Kirby. It was definitely one for the books!
We had so much fun with Kirby and Brian and we’re so happy they chose us to capture their special day!!!
