Katie and Rob had a wonderful Summer wedding. Despite the warm temperature, it was a perfect day. We had such a great time with Katie and Rob and their bridal party. (By the way, shout out again to the lovely Amy Vanover for another referral. She might be our #1 fan!)
We first met Katie in the amazing suite at the Embassey Suites in downtown Louisville. I'm telling you from a photographer's perspective you can't ask for better light in a hotel room. It is perfect for details and getting ready photos. Once Katie was done with her hair and makeup, the girls got ready in the other room while Katie's mom got her into her dress. The dress was so unique and fit Katie like a glove. Her bridesmaids were so excited to see her in her dress. Then Katie did a reveal with her dad, before we took the girls off for some photos. He was so happy to see her and even gave her a little twirl to see her whole dress.
The Embassey also has 3 different enclosed terraces that are perfect for photos if it's raining or too hot. We utilized this for the girls photos. Even though we didn't have their bouquets, we made due with awkward hand-holding HAHA! We took some of Katie with her family then Jessica and I drove to where the guys were getting ready. Katie and Rob's apartment complex has a room with a pool table, kitchen, and TV, perfect for the guys to get ready in. After some introductions, the first thing a groomsmen asked is if it would be a compliment for a guy to tell me I'm a "diamond in the rough?" I said yes, Jessica said no. I'm not sure which was the right answer.
Their ceremony was short and sweet. (**note for photographers** Please please please do not break the rules at any church. The church where this ceremony took place changed their rules and told us we could only be in the balcony once the processional had ended, because someone had broken the photography rules.) We were able to get some really fun photos of the bridal party on the steps of the church before heading off to the Ice House.
Katie and Rob's reception OMG! We had such a great time!!! Their band was Tony and the Tanlines and let me just say that they knew how to keep the party going. There were buckets of props, which made for a fun-looking group of people on the dance floor. Jessica was over-the-moon when the band played a few Hall and Oates songs (yeah she LOVES Hall and Oates).
We had such a fun time! And we are so happy that Katie and Rob chose us to be there with them to capture the whole day.
