Jessica and I met Emily's mom, Katie, at a bridal show we did in Cincinnati last year. She was looking for a photographer for Emily that was local to Cincinnati but Emily couldn't be there because she and Chad live in Chicago. We soon set up a meeting with Katie and Emily at Hotel Covington and hit it off so well. Emily went back and forth for a while about whether she and Chad wanted to take engagement photos, but eventually decided that they wanted to have some more casual photos of the two of them. And when they asked if we would come to Chicago it was an easy decision. However, it's wedding season so the photos were taken a week before their wedding (better late than never). We were all too happy to make the trip, though, especially since I had never been to Chicago!
After a short day of sightseeing, we met up with Emily and Chad at their apartment downtown. For some reason, it had gotten unseasonably cold in Chicago, so we had to brave the chilly wind and cloud cover. But Emily was a trooper in her spaghetti strapped dress and we got some AMAZING photos. The diverse landscape of Downtown Chicago makes for a great backdrop for photos.
We headed back to Emily and Chad's apartment for a quick wardrobe change before heading up to the rooftop of the building. What a great view! They can see most of downtown from their roof.
Emily and Chad are so sweet and fun. They did such a great job being themselves for their photos. And they were so glad they opted to have the photos taken in their "new" home before heading home for their wedding. Stay tuned for the next post about their gorgeous wedding at the Glendale Lyceum.
