Where do I even begin with them?! Jessica and I both just love Emily and Phillip. They are two of the most relaxed people and are so natural in front of the camera, making our job super easy. Their engagement session was amazing too!
Emily and Phillip both got ready at the Embassy Suites in downtown Louisville (separately, of course). This made it really easy for us to get photos of both of them getting ready. I just walked down the hall to shoot the guys. The girls were in a suite in the corner of the hotel. Makeup was laid out on the table while two makeup artists (sisters too!) were busy with each of the bridesmaids and Emily. In an attached room, a stylist did each of the girls' hair.
Emily and Phillip had custom wedding bands made from Phillip's grandfather's wedding band. On the inside they also had their wedding date engraved in Roman numerals. We loved this detail!
The guys had to change rooms after getting dressed so when I got in there they were already ready to go, but in a way it was good because the room was still clean. I got some fun shots of them taking a shot of bourbon and laughing together. Phillip's mom and dad were in the room, having fun with the guys too.
After Emily got into her dress, she had a quick "first look" with her dad. Then the bridal party piled onto a trolley. Phillip was blindfolded for their "first look" at a nearby park. The plan had been to take the bridal party to St James Court for some photos but the Derby festivities had started and there were a lot of blocked off roads, so we found a tiny park down the street from the hotel.
Emily and Phillip had a sweet "first look" with their friends in the trolley, looking on. Then they exchanged thoughtful gifts. It was starting to get pretty warm, but we were able to shoot all of the group photos outside before we had to head to the church.
We were even able to get all of the immediate family photos taken outside the front of the church before the ceremony started. And then after the ceremony we got some of the larger family photos.
Marti from Unveiled Details did an amazing job setting up the reception décor at the Frazier History Museum. The room was all decked out in champagne gold, white, and a little pink. There was even a lounge area set up in front of the dance floor. After the cocktail hour on the roof, the guests were brought down to the fourth floor for dinner and dancing.
It was such a fun night! There was even a hilarious incident with the bouquet getting caught in the draped fabric above the dance floor. Good thing Emily's brother, Matt, is tall. We had such a great time celebrating with Emily and Phillip and are so glad they let us be a part of their special day!
