What an awesome day for an outdoor wedding! Right before Stephanie and Andy's laid back wedding at Blackacre Conservancy the weather had finally cooled down a bit, so the day of their wedding was just perfect.
We started off at Z Salon with the girls, and took some shots as they got their hair and makeup done. We had some laughs with Stephanie as she and her mom joked about her hair extensions. She was so relaxed and ready to get the day started.
After we set up our photo booth at Blackacre, we headed off to Stephanie's uncle's house where all the "groomspeople" were getting ready. So, "groomspeople" is the term Andy coined because he had two women in his side of the bridal party. We used it the rest of the day. There wasn't a large enough spot to get a photo of all of them, so we took ones of Andy with each of the guys and girls. And with a promise from Stephanie's uncle to get them all out of the house right on time, we headed back to Blackacre where we would stay the rest of the night.
The girls arrived and we got some shots of them putting on their finishing touches. They all wore flower crowns, which fit the whole atmosphere really well. Once she was in her dress, which was interesting to hear the struggle- it had to go over her head- from outside of the room, she did a little reveal with her bridesmaids. They were all so excited! She looked perfect in her lace dress. Then she did a first look with her dad, which made both of them cry. It was so sweet.
After some group shots with Andy and his groomspeople and Stephanie and her bridesmaids, Stephanie and Andy decided to do a first touch. This moment was a photographer's dream!!! We had them each stand on either side of a tree in the shade and the historic home was behind them. There were letters exchanged and laughing and tears. It was perfect!
For the ceremony, they asked their bridal party to go barefoot just like they did. And their ceremony was performed by a friend, and another read a sweet little story. Instead of a sand ceremony or unity candle, they opted to add water and dirt to a weeping willow tree. It also served as a memorial for Andy's mom who had passed away.
The toasts given by Stephanie's sisters were so heartfelt and, of course, made Jessica and me cry. And Andy shared a dance with his sister, Susan, in lieu of a dance with his mother. This was such an emotional, beautiful part of the day.
Like I said, the whole day was perfect. We had such a great time with Stephanie and Andy and their guests. And we are so grateful they chose us to capture their wonderful day!
