What an awesome day! Jessica and I drove from Louisville to Birmingham on a Sunday afternoon. We love a good road trip so we had no problem loading up and driving the 5 hours to a new city. We arrived downtown about an hour or so before the session, and so we took the time to scope out some spots to shoot. Downtown Birmingham has some cool spots.
We met Kate and Fletcher for the first time in person at a coffee shop downtown. They were so sweet right off the bat and we were all so happy to get to spend this hour getting to know one another.
First we went to Morris Ave, an area that seemed to be very popular for photographers. We moved away from the rest of the crowd and got some really great shots of Kate and Fletcher. Fletcher was nervous and claimed to be very awkward, as most of the guys do, but he did great and eased into the posing.
From there we headed to Vulcan Park, which is a small park on a hill with a giant statue of Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and forge. And there is an observation tower at the statue and a museum. The park was a bit crowded but we were able to find some secluded spots where we could take some awesome photos. The park has an amazing view of downtown Birmingham, which served as a great backdrop for Kate and Fletcher's photos.
We had such a fun time with Kate & Fletcher and were so excited to discover a new city. We hope to go back to Birmingham again when we can stay longer. And we are so excited for their June wedding.
